The client’s main raw materials are beech and oak offcuts. These are hard and have long fibers. That’s why we used a heavy-duty chipper and adjusted the ring die compression ratio accordingly.
- Customer output : 2 t/h
- Raw materials : Wood waste, branches, sawdust

Sawdust pellet production line in USA
Fine materials like sawdust and bark tend to create too much dust in the cooling section. Therefore, we designed a multi-pass dryer and an automatic packing line for this client.
- Customer output : 5-6 t/h
- Raw materials : Sawdust, bark, forestry waste

Spruce shavings pellet plant in Finland
We added air separation for dust removal in the grinding section. Then we used a low-compression ring die. As a result, the pellets had a smooth surface and met the local power plant’s requirements for low dust content.
- Customer output : 2.5-4 t/h
- Raw materials : Spruce shavings, sawdust

Mixed softwood waste pellet plant in Canada
The raw materials come from sawmills and panel board plants, with a small amount of adhesive. To avoid hard impurities damaging the grinder, we installed a permanent magnet drum and a drum screen at the front of the line. We also adjusted the ring die compression ratio to prevent sticking.
- Customer output : 3-5 t/h
- Raw materials : Pine, fir sawdust and offcuts

grass based Biomass pellet plant cases
Grass materials are fluffy and have long fibers. They tend to tangle or block the feed inlet. The key equipment are the rubbing machine and forced feeding system. The compression ratio is usually higher than for wood materials.

Alfalfa pellet plant in Spain
Dried alfalfa is light, so a normal feed hopper does not work well. We added a horizontal forced feeder with a Siemens VFD motor. As a result, the current fluctuation during pelletizing was significantly reduced.
- Customer output : 3-4 t/h
- Raw materials : Alfalfa

Hybrid Pennisetum pellet plant in South Africa
We installed a two-stage rubbing machine. The material is first cut short and then rubbed into fibers. After that, it goes to pelletizing. The pellet forming rate remained stable at a high level.
- Customer output : 4-5t/h
- Raw materials : Pennisetum, elephant grass

Timothy grass pellet plant in USA
Timothy grass has a smooth surface. Pellets made from it tend to crack easily. To solve this, our engineers adjusted the pelletizing temperature and extended the cooling time, and this fixed the cracking issue.

Wheat straw pellet plant in Poland
The client had damaged a ring die before because wires got into the pelletizer. Therefore, we added multiple magnetic separators at the front and replaced the ring die with a thicker one. After that, no such failure happened again.
- Customer output : 3-4 t/h
- Raw materials : Wheat straw

Corn straw pellet plant in Kenya
Local corn straw has high moisture content. It is even harder to dry during the rainy season. We configured a drum dryer, using part of the straw as fuel to generate heat. This reduced the moisture to a suitable level for pelletizing.
- Customer output : 2-2.5 t/h
- Raw materials : Corn straw

Sugarcane bagasse corn straw mixed pellet plant in Brazil
The client’s main raw material, pure sugarcane bagasse, gives low calorific value. So we suggested adding a certain proportion of corn straw to increase the calorific value. We also adjusted the grinder screen to make the mixture more uniform.

Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking of building a pellet plant but unsure about technical details? Below are questions clients ask most often.
My raw material has very high moisture, for example fresh wood. Do I have to buy a dryer?
Not necessarily. If the raw material moisture exceeds 20%, it is indeed hard to form pellets without drying. But there are two alternatives. First, mix in dry material to bring the blended moisture below 18%. Second, use waste heat from a hot air stove to pre-heat. Only if you cannot reduce the moisture by these methods, then you need a dryer.
How much area does a production line need?
It depends on capacity. A small line (1-2 t/h) needs about 150-200 square meters for the main equipment plus hopper, cooler, screener, and packing (excluding raw material storage). For larger capacity lines, we recommend reserving more space. If your workshop has many columns or other limits, we can do a 3D layout optimization.
Palm kernel shell – does it wear out ring dies quickly? How long do your ring dies last?
Yes, palm kernel shell wears ring dies much faster than ordinary raw materials. For palm kernel shell, we provide ultra wear-resistant alloy ring dies (deep case carburized and quenched) and SKF bearings. The actual service life depends on the sand content in the raw material and operation maintenance. Please contact us directly for detailed data.
I only have a budget for a small line. Can I expand later?
Yes. Our modular design allows adding a grinder or pelletizer to the existing setup. One client started with one small line. Two years later, he added another pelletizer of the same size, sharing the drying and cooling system. This doubled the capacity. During the initial planning, we will reserve space and interfaces for you.
If equipment breaks down, how do you provide after-sales service?
Remote diagnosis is the first response. Our engineers look at the fault via video and guide you on how to repair or replace. Most electrical, bearing, and die problems can be diagnosed within a few hours. If necessary, we will send an engineer to your site within 48 hours.
Can you help us with raw material testing and a feasibility report?
Yes. Send 2-3 kg of representative raw material to our factory. We will test the forming effect on our lab pelletizer. We will then provide a report with data on moisture, pellet density, calorific value, and more. This report helps you determine whether your raw material is suitable for pelletizing and which compression ratio to choose.
